On Sunday afternoon the Royal Hotel hosted its debut bridal champagne tea event. Organised by Karen Robb of Dornellie Veils alongside the Royal the ticketed event was raising money for Barely Born Appeal and allowed brides and their guests to indulge in an afternoon of luxury at the beautiful hotel. Guests were greeted by the Royal’s attentive staff handing each a glass of champagne before they were escorted in to the stately Appuldurcombe Room which had been expertly dressed by Inspired Island Events. Each table had been individually styled and featured floral works of art crafted by ‘Wildflowers’ especially for the event.

The room was divided roughly in half with the first half of the room arranged for the afternoon tea and the second half showcasing the Islands very best wedding suppliers who worked tirelessly in making the event a success. Wight Vintage, Tickety Boo Cupcakes, IOW Pearl and myself were just a few of those involved lucky enough to have our own area in which guests could venture to see more of our work and have a friendly chat.

At 3:00pm afternoon tea was served complete with dainty finger sandwiches and gorgeous cakes and pastries by the Royal Hotel’s award winning pastry chef Emily Harris. Smiling faces lit up as stands of delicious cakes were bought to each table and as the tea began flowing the gentle notes played by the pianist, Jordan on the piano, complemented the relaxed ambience.

At 3:45pm as the now unsurprisingly empty cake-stands were cleared from the room the main event of the day took place- a fashion show featuring veils and dresses by Dornellie, wedding outfits by Wallis, suits by Osbornes, make-up by Harmony Beauty, hair by Scott’s Hair Salon and each outfit was complimented by either floral or button bouquets by Wildflowers and I Heart Buttons and pearls by Isle of Wight pearl.

As the fashion show drew to a close out came the delicious finger sandwiches accompanied by more tea as guests chatted once again as the beautiful keystrokes of the talented pianist filled the room.

A raffle followed shortly after with prizes donated by various suppliers involved in the event; but before long what had been a magical day had to draw to a close. As carriages arrived to collect guests each bride was handed a goody-bag as a token to remember the day by and given the opportunity to see the Royal’s exclusive bridal suite before leaving this wonderful afternoon of bridal luxury behind and going about their evening.
