Tonight, MP’s voted in favour of same-sex marriage in England and Wales by 400 to 175 despite the opposition of almost half the Conservative MPs including Isle of Wight MP, Andrew Turner.

Commenting on the key House of Commons vote Prime Minister David Cameron described the approval as “an important step forward” that strengthens society.

Deputy Prime Minister and Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg added: “I genuinely believe that we will look back on today as a landmark for equality in Britain. Tonight’s vote shows Parliament is very strongly in favour of equal marriage.

No matter who you are and who you love, we are all equal. Marriage is about love and commitment, and it should no longer be denied to people just because they are gay.”

Fancy dress wedding photographer

Fancy dress wedding photographer Isle of WightI love fancy dress. Sometimes I dress up as a wizard to photograph weddings.

OK, not often but that was a photo taken at a my favourite festival where I was Bestival wedding photographer for the Inflatable Church capturing 48 weddings in 72 hours.

Whilst sorting through our slowly growing collection of fancy dress at home I was thinking “How cool would that be to photograph a real wedding in fancy dress?!”

So I’m on a mission now. If you’re having a unique wedding that’s a little bit out of the ordinary, or maybe you’re doing a fancy dress theme then get in touch as I would LOVE to hear all about your plans.

Outdoor weddings in gardens with marquees, tents or yurts

Are you planning an outdoor garden wedding? Or maybe you’re holding your wedding reception in a marquee, tent or a beautiful yurt? As you’ve probably seen from reading my about page I LOVE garden weddings.

There’s something really special about outdoor weddings. Maybe it’s my music festival photography background that draws me to them but there’s nothing better in my mind than being outside, having a beautiful garden for a backdrop and capturing the most important day of a couples lives.

And there are so many opportunities for spontaneous, off the cuff moments at an outdoor wedding. The fun, the sunshine, the laughter; it all just adds to it and seeing a marquee in the distance all set up for a party well in to the small hours is just the icing on the cake for me!

If this sounds like your kind of wedding, or maybe I’ve just described your day – get in touch as I would love to hear all about it!

I’m lucky enough to work with the most awesome couples that’s for sure, but sometimes their awesomeness just blows me away.

Jo and Alex are a wonderful couple from the London who fell in love with the Island whilst visiting Alex’s mum who lives here. In January Alex proposed to Jo whilst they were visiting again and as the Island had so much meaning to them they decided to hold their entire wedding here.

Their wedding rocked so look out for their photos on the blog sometime soon but in the meantime I wanted to share the lovely gift and awesome note that landed on my doorstep yesterday from them.

We both wish you and your partner every success for a fantastic day yourselves, enjoy every minute!
